Tanwayour Anniversary
and
Baron Talanque Memorial Tourney

September 20th, 2014

The Canton of Tanwayour invites you to join us for the Canton's anniversary and the Talanque Memorial on Saturday, September 20th, 2014 at Sweetwater Summit Park, 3218 Summit Meadow Road, Bonita, CA 91902.

Talanque was the founding Baron of Calafia and sat the throne of our fine Barony for 22 years, the longest reign of any Baron in Caid.

The Canton of Tanwayour will be determining their champions in the following areas:

    • Armoured

    • Rapier

    • Unarmoured.

    • Arts. The Arts Champion will be selected by the populace.

Rules for the Arts Contest:
What to Bring: Bring the best example you have made since the last canton anniversary of each art you work in.

Basis for Judging: This will be a modified People's Prize contest. Each attendee will be a judge! You will receive a bead when you pay your gate fee. Each artist will have a bowl for beads and any recognition (like candy) the populace would like to bestow. The artist who receives the most beads will be the canton's arts champion!
Contestants will be judged not only on the excellence of their entries, but on the breadth of their work as well. For example, if you have made a beautiful Tudor garb and also have made nice wirework jewelry and brewed some awesome sake, you would bring your Tudor, your most impressive/well-made jewelry, and your sake. This count as three points. If someone has done some awesome glasswork, but nothing else, they would only receive one point toward the contest. If the judge feels that a work is not sufficiently well done to be worth a point, he/she will not count that art.

Storytelling Contest: Talanque's memory will be celebrated with a story telling contest with testimonials from those who knew him well! (Or, who can make up a believeable and fun tale about him if they didn't!)
The story telling contest will be during the lunch break.

There will be many demos throughout the day:

    • The Middle Eastern Guild will be holding a demo after lunch.

    • The Traveling Scriptorium will be hosting a scribal table under a day shade.

    • The Arts & Sciences' and Chatelaine’s offices will host a newcomer’s table and a place for artisans to show off their works and maybe even engage in some of their art work so we can see how they make whatever wonderful stuff they make.

    • The Funnelcake demo will be making a triumphant return. FREE FUNNELCAKE!!!

Yout' Combat: If there is sufficient interest, there will be yout' combat.

Lunch: The newly created Provisioner's Guild will be preparing a lunch for the populace. This lunch will cost for $5.00, collected when you go through gate. The lunch is limited to 50 people. Please bring your feast gear.

Newcomers: The Chatelaine's offices will be hosting a Newcomer's table and will also have loaner garb available. If you are difficult size to fit, please contact the Chatelaine's office in advance. The Tanwayour Chatelaine be contacted via the canton's website, and the Baronial Chatelaine via the Baronial Officers page.
